About this manual

This is the manual of RUVIA (Pty) Limited under section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA), as updated by the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It says what records we keep and how to ask for them. It's free to read here, and we'll email a copy on request.

Our details

Company: RUVIA (Pty) Limited Information officer: business@ruvia.org

The Information Regulator's guide

The Information Regulator publishes a guide on how to use PAIA and POPIA to get information. It's on inforegulator.org.za, in South Africa's official languages, and the Regulator can be asked for a copy.

Records we hold

Company records: founding documents, registers, minutes, contracts, financial and tax records. Accounts: names, email addresses, password hashes, phone numbers, profile details and settings. Businesses: listings and their photos, events, specials and rewards; subscriptions and payment records (PayFast references, never card numbers); affiliate applications and payouts, including bank details. Visitors' activity: bookings and their messages (end-to-end encrypted: we can't read them), reviews and reports, Passport check-ins, XP, badges and reward vouchers. Running the service: emails with us, error reports, server logs and backups.

Records you can see without asking

Everything published on this website and in the apps, including the privacy policy and the terms. Your own account details are in the apps (Edit profile).

How to ask for a record

Email the information officer at business@ruvia.org with the prescribed form (Form 2 of the PAIA Regulations, on inforegulator.org.za), saying which record you want, how you'd like it, and your proof of identity (and authority, if you ask on someone else's behalf). We answer within 30 days. A request fee and access fees may apply as the PAIA Regulations set them; asking for your own personal information is free. We may refuse only on the grounds in Chapter 4 of PAIA, and we'll say why. If you disagree, you can complain to the Information Regulator or go to court.

Personal information we process

What we keep, why, who it's shared with, what goes outside South Africa and how it's kept safe are in our privacy policy. You can ask us to correct or delete your personal information, or object to how we use it, at the same email.
