Things to do in Mossel Bay
Where the Garden Route begins: history, a cliff-top trail and warm, calm beaches.
About 45 minutes west of George
Mossel Bay is the western start of the Garden Route. Bartolomeu Dias landed here in 1488, the first European known to have come ashore on this coast, and the town still tells that story.
The bay is sheltered from the west, so its beaches are often calmer than the rest of the coast, and the cliffs at the Point make for one of the best coastal walks around.
