Things to do in George
Beaches, mountain passes, gardens and golf, at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains.
Home of George Airport, where most trips start
George is where most Garden Route trips start. It's the biggest town on the route and has its airport, and it sits on a plateau between the Outeniqua Mountains and the sea.
Within a short drive you have two small cliff-lined beaches, an old gravel pass over the mountains and the forest road to Knysna, and in town a botanical garden, a transport museum and some well-known golf courses.
